Book News

Thanks for checking out my news page. Before you start scrolling down to see the latest tidbits, consider signing up for my newsletter (you’ll be the first to know when I release something new):

September 29th, 2014

The second novel in my Rust & Relics series is out. Check out the blurb and preview chapter for Thorn Fall here.

August 16th, 2014

Me? Update the news regularly? Naw…

Here are the most recent releases: Blood Charged (third in the Dragon Blood series, which started with Balanced on the Blade’s Edge), Claimed (the fourth Flash Gold novella), and Destiny Unchosen (a new novella that takes place in the Rust & Relics world).

Enjoy the rest of the summer!

May 25th, 2014

More novels! I’m on a roll! Republic is out, and so is Deathmaker, the sequel to Balanced on the Blade’s Edge.

March 31st, 2014

As usual, I’m forgetting to update this page. I have two new novels out since the last update and Republic, a follow-up to the Emperor’s Edge series, is due out in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, check out Wounded, a contemporary mystery, and Balanced on the Blade’s Edge, a fantasy/steampunk romance. Both of those links have excerpts of the first couple of chapters.

January 4th, 2014

That Flash Gold story is still in the works, but I have three new novellas out that take place in Nuria and introduce some new characters (there will be novels to follow). I’ll also have a contemporary mystery/love story coming out in a couple of weeks.

In early March, look for a new novel featuring Amaranthe, Sicarius, and many of the others. It’s called Republic, and I’m close to finishing the first draft.

September 22nd, 2013

If you’re ready for the start of a new series, check out the first Rust & Relics novel, Torrent. I’m also working on a new Flash Gold story that should release later this fall.

July 14th, 2013

Forged in Blood I is out and II is coming next weekend! This last story will conclude the Emperor’s Edge story arc, but I’m putting up a poll where people can vote and offer feedback as to whether there should be more stories set in this world (and with which characters).

May 8th, 2013

I’ve divided the Emperor’s Edge finale into two books, Forged in Blood I and II, and the first one is in my editor’s hands right now. I expect to have it ready to publish within the next two weeks. I’m writing Part 2 while she edits the first, and I plan to have it out at the end of the summer.

March 12th, 2013

I see I’ve been neglecting this page again. Bad author! Not only is Decrypted, the new sequel to Encrypted, available, but I published an Emperor’s Edge novella in January too. Beneath the Surface takes place between Books 5 and 6 (forthcoming), continuing the adventure from Sgt. Yara’s point of view (and, of course, there’s some Amaranthe and Sicarius action in there too).

I’m also 50,000 words into the first draft of EE6 and I’m shooting for a May/June publication date.

November 4th, 2012

Darn, no helpful sprites or faeries updated this page for me this fall. Well, let me do so belatedly. Blood and Betrayal (EE5) is out. I’ll also be publishing Enigma (a short story with Rias and Tikaya from Encrypted) this weekend. I’m hard at work on Decrypted (the full-length sequel to Engima) and am writing a new Emperor’s Edge novella for NaNoWriMo, so look for that in December or January (it doesn’t have a title yet, but it’ll be from Sgt. Yara’s point of view and will take place between Books 5 & 6)

August 3rd, 2012

I’m doing the final edits on Emperor’s Edge 5 (Blood and Betrayal) and am on schedule for a September launch. In the meantime, I’ve posted a Sicarius background story on my blog, so take a peep if you’re a fan of the assassin: Shadows over Innocence.

April 27th, 2012

Conspiracy, Book 4 in The Emperor’s Edge series, is out! (Click for an excerpt and purchase links)

March 3rd, 2012

Peacemaker, the third novella in the Flash Gold Chronicles, is now available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Smashwords. You can read the blurb and an excerpt here.

In other news, I decided to stay independent after receiving a publishing offer from the 47North SF/F/H imprint at Amazon. The details are here. Thank you for your support and help with making the decision!

January 20th, 2012

The Assassin’s Curse, a short story with Amaranthe and Sicarius, is out. I’m trying to finish the rough draft of the fourth Emperor’s Edge novel by the end of January, and then February and March will be big editing months. I’m determined to get Peacemaker out soon, and then I hope to have EE4 ready for release in the spring.

November 23rd, 2011

Deadly Games is out! The rough draft of Flash Gold 3 (Peacemaker) is done, and I’m starting in on the first draft of the fourth Emperor’s Edge book.

October 15th, 2011

I’m working on the final edits for the third Emperor’s Edge novel (Deadly Games) and plan to send it off to my editor in a couple of weeks. Look for the ebook to come out in mid-November.

August 20th, 2011

Hunted, the sequel to Flash Gold, is out! Click the link to read the first ten pages.

I’m working on The Emperor’s Edge Book 3 (no official title yet) and hope to get it out by Christmas.

I’ve also started a Facebook author page, so if you’re a FB user, stop by and say hello. Thanks!

June 12th, 2011

Dark Currents is out! Click the link to read the first chapter and/or pick up a copy. Thanks!

May 22nd, 2011

I have the cover art back for Dark Currents, and the manuscript is off to the editor for proofreading. If all goes well, it should be out in early June. In the meantime, you can check out the first chapter here.

April 1st, 2011

Editing for Dark Currents is underway, and Flash Gold is out at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Smashwords. Thanks for taking a look!

March 16th, 2011

I’ve finished a rough draft of Dark Currents, AKA Emperor’s Edge Book 2. Lots of editing to do, but I look forward to tackling it. I’ve also written a short steampunk novella set in the Klondike during the gold rush days, and that will come out in a few weeks as a $0.99 ebook.

I have a podiobook version of Emperor’s Edge coming out (not sure on the date yet, but it should be in the next couple months), so you’ll be able to listen to chapters on iTunes or Podiobooks.com.

In non-writing news, I’ve added a newsletter to the website! If you want to know the day a new ebook is released (and maybe before), then this is where to be.

February 10th, 2011

To answer the question several people have been kind enough to ask, yes, Emperor’s Edge is the beginning of a series, and, yes, I’m working on Book 2 right now! It’s still in the rough-draft stage, but I’m hoping to start editing next month and have it online by the end of spring.

When are more flash gold coming out. I love them as much as the emperor’s edge. Even novellas are great. I have never been the short story type but Lindsay you know how to do it right. Sincerely from a bibliophile.

Thanks, Misha. I’m planning on a new one for this fall. I may do Cedar’s point of view this time. :)

Have read your first 2 Emperors Edge books and have enjoyed them.Number 3 will begin immediately.I love fantasy and steam and yours is wonderful.Thank you very much. Garry in Kentucky.

Thanks for giving the books a read, Garry. I’m glad you’re enjoying them!

Am enjoying reading your stories. Must like quirky women.

Thanks.

Glad to hear it, Robert! ;)

Just found your website, but have read all your books.
Really enjoy them. I would like to see more in the Relics and Rust series and be able to see the characters develop more. It feels like we are just beginning to get to know them and see how things may play out.

Thanks for following along, Lisa! Yes, poor Delia and Simon were so busy there in that 3-day period that there wasn’t much time to get to know them. I’ll have to work on that in future stories. :)

Loved the book! Will be looking for the next in the series

Hi,

I started reading your Encrypted novel and was hooked from then on! Keep writing you are really great! I know you give a lot of books away free; but, I hope at least some of the money I spend when I buy your e-books actually does go to you!

Thank you, Karissa. Have no fear, I get paid. I have to be able to buy dog food, coffee, and chocolate, you know. ;) Thanks for the support!

just finished “Balanced on a Blade’s Edge” I thoroughly enjoyed the story and I hope you continue this storyline in the future. I have been entertained by all of your stories. Best wishes in the future.

Thank you, Ken. I’m glad you enjoyed the story!

Hello. I read all the books from The Emperor’s Edge series, except for Republic since I’m still looking for a store that has an available copy, but I was wondering if you will still continue writing their adventures? Are you planning on writing more books for the series? :)

Thanks for reading, Valentine. My designer is working on the files for the print version of Republic, so that should be available soon. We’ll see about more stories after that. ;)

Hi Lindsay
I’ve read all you emperors edge books and love them all i hope there are still more books to come they just keep getting better and loved republic keep them coming. I wasn’t sure what to read next but just finished balanced on a blades edge which i enjoyed just as much and just started death maker. I love everything you have written. I just hope there is more emperors edge to come. Good luck with your next books

Thanks for following along, Andrea. There’ll be more set in the EE world, and I’m sure some of our heroes will at least pop in now and then. :)

Early in Republic, Amaranthe & Sicarius mention a run in with pirates. It would be interesting to see how they got the drop on Sicarius and how they sunk the pirate ship. Is there any place where that story is as I have ALL of the EE books and am totally obsessed with more. I devoured the whole lot in one week (lunch breaks & after work).

Thanks for reading and stepping by to comment, Josella! Wow, someone else just mentioned those pirates. ;) That story isn’t in print anywhere, though there are a few more details in the holiday story if you haven’t read that yet: http://www.lindsayburoker.com/cut-scenes-and-fun-extras/solstice-day-gifts/ (the story is also up at Amazon, Smashwords, etc. for free)
